Black Friday is the best time of year to sort out your dog’s ID tag. All through November, the Paw ID QR dog tag is £19.99 with our Black Friday code (normally £29.99), and you can save even more when you buy two or three. For every tag we sell, we’re also giving £5 to Dogs Trust.
We’ll be upfront: we make Paw ID, so this isn’t a neutral list of everyone’s deals. What we can do is show you exactly what our offer includes and how to get it. We’ll also cover what to check before you buy any dog tag this Black Friday, and what UK law says your dog’s tag needs to show.

How to get the Black Friday price
- Go to the Paw ID QR dog tag and enter your email address in the Black Friday pop-up.
- You’ll see your code, straight away. It’s added to your basket automatically, and we’ll email it to you too.
- Choose your colour and how many tags you want. The extra £10 comes off at checkout, on top of the Buy 2 and Buy 3 prices.
The code works once per order and ends at 23:59 on 30 November 2026. The full details are in our Black Friday terms.
£5 to Dogs Trust for every tag
For every Paw ID QR tag sold on pawid.co.uk in November, we’ll donate £5 to Dogs Trust, including tags bought with the code and in bundles. The donation comes from us, so it doesn’t change what you pay. We’ll share the total raised in December.
Win a year of Paw ID Premium
Every paid order placed on pawid.co.uk in November is entered into a prize draw for 12 months of Paw ID Premium. You don’t need to do anything else to enter. The prize needs no card details and doesn’t renew. We draw the winner on 1 December 2026. It’s open to UK residents aged 18 and over, excluding Northern Ireland.

What is a QR code dog tag?
A QR code dog tag carries a code that links to an online profile for your dog. Whoever finds your dog scans it with their phone camera. They don’t need an app. Your dog’s profile opens and shows the details you’ve chosen to share, and the finder can get in touch with you.
Because the details live online, you can change them any time: a new phone number, a house move or a new medical condition, without buying a new tag. That’s what a dog tag with a QR code can do that a traditional engraved tag can’t. Wondering whether people actually scan them? We’ve answered that in Do QR dog tags work?
What you get with every Paw ID tag
Every Paw ID profile includes all of this with no subscription:
- Control over what finders see. Show or hide your phone number, email and address, and even your dog’s name.
- Contact without sharing your details. Even if you hide everything, finders can still reach you through your dog’s profile.
- Up to 2 extra emergency contacts, so someone can always be reached.
- Allergy details, vet details and care notes, so whoever finds your dog knows how to look after them.
- Unlimited scan history. See where and when your tag was scanned.
- Email alerts when your tag is scanned.
- Lost pet mode. Report your dog missing, alert nearby Paw ID users and get a missing pet flyer to print.
- Multiple tags on one profile, for example one on the collar and one on the harness.
- A 1-year tag warranty. If your tag breaks, wears out, fades or falls off in the first 12 months, we’ll replace it free.
Paw ID Premium is optional (£3.99 a month or £29.99 a year, covering every pet on your account). It adds SMS scan alerts, unlimited contacts, photos and documents, family access and free replacement tags. You never need it for your tag to work. If you’re wondering why we charge for the tag at all, we’ve explained why Paw ID tags aren’t free.
What to check before you buy any dog ID tag this Black Friday
1. Is the deal on the price you’ll actually pay?
Plenty of pet ID tags are cheap or free to buy but need a monthly plan for the useful features. A big Black Friday discount on the tag doesn’t help much if the subscription stays the same. Add up what you’d pay over a few years.
2. Which features need a subscription?
Check whether hiding your phone number, extra contacts, scan locations and lost pet alerts are included, or only on a paid plan. They’re the features that matter when your dog is actually missing.
3. Who runs the website behind the QR code?
A QR tag only works while the website it points to is running. Look for an established company with clear contact details and support you can reach. This is especially worth checking with very cheap tags from unknown sellers on marketplaces.
4. Does it cover what UK law asks for?
That one is important enough to have its own section.
What UK law says your dog’s tag must show
Under the Control of Dogs Order 1992, a dog in a public place must wear a collar with the name and address of the owner on it, either on the collar itself or on a tag or plate attached to it. A phone number isn’t required, but it’s a good idea. There are a few exceptions, such as some working dogs.
A QR code on its own doesn’t meet that rule, because the name and address aren’t on the tag. That’s why we recommend wearing your Paw ID tag alongside an engraved tag with your name and address. The engraved tag covers the law, and the QR tag gives a finder much more: your up-to-date contacts, your dog’s medical needs and a way to reach you straight away. You can read more in our guide to UK pet ID tag laws.
Coming later this month: one tag with your details and a QR code
We’re launching a new personalised Paw ID tag later in November. Your name, address, phone number or whatever you choose are printed on the front with your custom colour of choice, as UK law asks, and a large QR code with an NFC chip is on the back, so finders can scan it or tap their phone on it. That means one tag on the collar instead of two. You type in exactly what’s printed, and you can choose your colour.

Your dog also needs to be microchipped by law in England, Scotland and Wales. A chip and a tag do different jobs, and your dog needs both: a chip can only be read with a scanner, while anyone with a phone can scan a QR tag. Here’s why your pet needs a QR tag and a microchip.
