Dom is the founder of Paw ID, a UK pet safety company on a mission to make sure every lost pet finds its way home.
The idea didn’t come from a lost dog. It came from a restaurant table. As QR codes started appearing on tables in restaurants and bars, Dom wondered why pets couldn’t have the same thing. Someone who finds a lost pet usually has to take it to a vet to scan its microchip and then wait while the owner is tracked down. A QR code on the collar could give the finder everything they need straight away, so they can contact the right person on the spot.
That became Paw ID. Each tag links to an online pet profile that anyone can open with a phone camera, with no app needed. The profile shows the owner’s contact details, plus anything else the finder should know, such as medical needs. Owners are alerted when the tag is scanned and can rally their local community if a pet goes missing. Paw ID has since added live GPS tracking for pets that need extra peace of mind.
In 2026 Paw ID was named Best Pet Travel Accessory, its second major industry award in two years.
On the blog, Dom writes about lost pet prevention, UK pet ID rules, travelling with pets, and what to do in the first hours after a pet goes missing. When he’s not working, you’ll find him walking Otis, his giant schnauzer.
